@Instagram recently announced new tests that will allow users to pick whether or not they display like counts on their posts.

The removal of likes was originally implemented by Instagram to relieve the pressures of online performance and encourage more users to post content because they like it, rather than posting it for the likes.

Is bringing the option to show likes on posts one step forward and two steps back? 🤔
